- The Service of Remembrance for Irene Olsen, age 87, of Elgin, ND will be at 1:30 p.m. MDT on Monday, June 8, 2009 at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Elgin, ND (updated). Pastor Dale Carmen will officiate and the cremains wilf be buried at a later date in the Bethesda Lutheran Cemetery.
Special music will be provided by Patsy Hauge, organist.
IRENE BARTLETTwas born Maren 16, 1922 in Omaha, Nebraska- She was born with twin brother Edwin to John and Ada (Myers) Bart lett. Irene grew up and attended school in Omaha, and at an early age began doing domestic work. She was united in marriage to Oren Anderson in 1942 at Pine Bluffs, WY. They lived in Albin, Wyoming where Irene worked as a waitress and Oren was enlisted into the U.S. Army, Three children were born to this union, Jerri, Norma Jean, and Dorothy Elaine. Irene continued working as a waitress,
She was united in marriage to Oscar A. Olson Sr. on May 28, 1953 in Nebraska. One son Oscar A, Jr. was born to this union. Irene moved with her family to the Olson ranch south of Leith, North Dakota. She enjoyed the ranching, raising chickens, and milking her Ayrshires. Oscar Sr passed away in January of 1969. In the fall, she moved with her son into Elgin.
She loved doing crafts, especially crocheting. She enjoyed working on the computer and loved dancing.
Irene passed away on Saturday morning, May 30, 2009 at the Jacobson Memorial Hospital in Elgin.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her son and daughter-in-law, Oscar A. Jr. and Betty Olson, Colorado Spnngs, CO; three daughters, Norma Jean Anderson. Absarokee, MT, Jerri Theurer, Elgin, ND and Dorothy Elaine Anderson, Hastings, Ml; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren
and one brother and sister-in-law, Eimer and Lila Bartlett, Freemont, NE.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Oscar Sr.; five brothers, Harold and Roy Antisdel, John, Everett and her twin brother Edwin Bartlett.
Visitation wiil be from 1:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 7 at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Elgin.
A memorial has been established.
